Hiking with kids Hannacroix Creek Preserve
The Hannacroix Preserve hike from the main parking lot, will start with a fairly steep hill but after this it’s a much easier hike mostly on a gravel path. It’s about 1.5 miles round trip.
The Hannacroix trail offers smaller paths to the creek where you can stop and explore. We saw what we think was a crayfish scurry away but that was about it. I was anxious to get to the falls so I hurried us along. The stream is very shallow easy to walk through and this is not the area for Hannacroix Creek Swimming, you will need to go up further in front of the waterfall.
Continue until you see the old paper mill. There’s a steep path down to the creek. If you continue straight on the path above through large rocks you will get to the top of the falls.
Hannacroix Water Fall
Hanacroix Creek Swimming is not uncommon in the hot summer months. The water in front of the Hanancroix Waterfall is deep and due to currents, I strongly recommend life jackets for kids if you plan to swim. Sign’s at the entrance say no swimming along with some other rules. However, it seems to be common and the area on their website is even called a swimming hole, so I believe it’s more for liability purposes so swim at your own risk.
Tips for Hanacroix Creek Preserve Hiking with Kids
