East Coast Hyatt Hotels to See Fireworks on Independence Day with Kids on Points to enjoy a wonderful holiday for cheap. Living in NY we love heading to the beach for Independence Day and it’s easy to take a drive down the coast. We have been lucky to book these hotel with points making it a cheap getaway. These hotels are great options for a summer beach trip but they are even better on Independence Day.
Hyatt Place Dewey Beach
Hyatt Place Dewey Beach is located on the Chesapeake Bay across the street from the oceanfront beach. You get easy access to both which is great. The ocean side has big waves and the bay side is calm and shallow perfect for smaller kids. There was even a life guard till about 5pm on the bayside.
The Fireworks on Independence Day are over the bay. The small bayside beach does get packed. We brought out inflatable kayaks and paddle boards and the bay was perfect for them. Before the fireworks we paddled out a bit and watched from the bay. My husband was nice enough to stand in the bay which was about waist deep and hold our floats so we didn’t drift away. It was a really cool experience. We brought a small LED lantern so we could be seen better and we made sure to come in before any of the boats decided to leave.
Hyatt House Virginia Beach
Virginia Beach is a great place to watch fireworks on Independence Day. Hyatt House Viriginia Beach is the perfect East Coast Hyatt Hotels to See Fireworks on Independence Day with Kids on Points.
We chose the Hyatt House Virginia Beach because it’s all balcony rooms mean we were guaranteed a view (unlike the Hyatt Place down the street). While we watched the fireworks from our Balcony at the Hyatt House Virginia Beach, we were surprised to see that the beach itself wasn’t very crowded. I don’t know if it’s because there is such a huge stretch of beach and the stages where entertainment were further down the beach but there’s plenty of space on the beach to set up a blanket and an evening picnic.
The Barge for the fireworks moved around during the evening and we weren’t sure where it would end up but it parked right in front of the Hyatt House Virginia Beach and we had a perfect view for the fireworks. We really felt like we were in the sky with them. Hyatt House Virginia Beach rooms all have ocean view balconies so your guaranteed a view.
Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay
Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay is a low key Independence Day fireworks display. It’s not put on by the hotel and the fireworks are shot off over the bridge a distance away. Most people head out onto the dock to watch the fireworks and there’s plenty of space for everyone. The resort itself offers some fun activities for families which is the top reason to head to this resort. My daughter won the watermelon eating contest which was probably the highlight for her.
What to Pack
Besides your typical beach stuff you may want to pack some holiday themed items and things to make the trip extra special
Independence Day Charcuterie
While I’ve seen much fancier charcuteries, This one was filled with items my kids love. I simply brought together red white and blue items my kids enjoy, added a couple star shaped bowls and used star cutters to cut kshapes in the cheese and watermelon.
Frozen Drink Maker
This hand cranked shaved ice maker is our new must whenever we travel. Since Hotels almost always have ice machines it’s easy to make a special treat We picked up non alcoholic Strawberry daquiri and pina-colada mix as well as blue raspberry shaved ice syrup to make red white and blue drinks.
Glow Stuff
Of course you need some light up stuff any time your staying up past dark. My daughter especially liked the hand held LED optic wands.
East Coast Hyatt Hotels to See Fireworks on Independence Day with Kids on Points is …
Hyatt House Virginia Beach is definitely our favorite. Having a Balcony to watch the fire works and feeling as if your right up there with them is an amazing feeling. While the Hyatt Place Dewey Beach fireworks on the bay, while on our paddle boards, was a unique experience, we want to visit Hyatt House Virginia Beach over and over again. Virginia beach has so much to do including wonderful board walk bike trails, expansive beach and shallow but wavey water that’s perfect for boogie boarding.
