Overview of Sheraton Grand Tokyo Bay
We stayed at the Sheraton Tokyo Bay hotel with kids for 7 nights while visiting Tokyo and Tokyo Disneyland. It’s a great location if you plan to visit Tokyo Disneyland for several days (which I recommend), but it’s not the idea location for Tokyo. We new this when planning but wanted to visit Disneyland during the week to avoid crowds which we did successfully and over it’s wasn’t so bad. It’s actually a short easy commute to Odaiba which is a great area to spend the day at with kids.
We were pleased with the cleanliness of the rooms, restaurants and hotel and always received good service. There was an issue with billing that was an honest mistake that occurred when they combined 2 of our reservations. We noticed it after we left but the hotel agreed it was an error and refunded us the 2 night over charge. We had made the mistake of not checking our bill before checking out. I guess in Japan you check out of your hotel it’s not instant.
Rooms at Sheraton Grand Tokyo Bay
Using Points for a Free Stay
We used points to book our stay for 7 nights for almost Free. There was a fee for having my son in the room who was 7 years old. this fee was for 5 nights that we booked with Marriott points (5th night free). We booked 2 nights at the beginning of our stay using Chase Ultimate Rewards points though Chase’s portal since it was cheaper. I called Marriott but they weren’t able to combine the reservations since the Chase uses Expedia but they did note it on the account.
When we arrived we had a some what difficult time convincing them to let us stay in the same room the entire stay. They said there were no rooms available and eventually offered a room which they said was a “downgrade”. They showed us the room which was pet friendly which we were fine with. Not switching rooms in the middle of our busy Disneyland visit would have been much tougher than the enjoyment of any view we would have had from our room.
The Beds
The room we were given had 2 trundle beds. We called and asked if they could set them up as there were no sheets on them. I confirmed no extra fee for it. It was wonderful having 4 beds especially because the 2 main beds felt smaller than any full size bed we have ever slept on. The trundles barely fit between the beds which actually worked well for us since the kids (especially my son) is a roller. They also liked that it sort of felt like one massive bed (the trundles sat slightly lower).
The Restaurant and Food Options
We combed through the restaurant menus offered at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel but found that to be pricier than options at Ikspira which can easily be accessed via monorail. However we ate twice here and found a couple affordable options
Galleria Café
The Galleria Cafe was not cheap but there were affordable options. Mainly the Kids court meals for 1400 Yen. They came with chicken nuggets with french fries (a meal for the kids), and your choice of curry and rice or udon. There was a chicken tender basket with french fries for 1800 yen so my husband ordered that. I ate the kids curry vegetables and udon. The curry vegetables I enjoyed the most. They also had Sake that was inexpensive. Kids meals came with juice boxes.
Cafe Toastina
This place has some nice quick option meals. After 8pm they offer to go food that I think is the leftovers from the evening buffet. The food is extremely affordable and they will heat it up for you. Kids were able to get chicken nuggets with smiles for $3.50 per serving (kind of small but they also had some rice), A family size container of rice was around $3-$5. We tried a chicken dish and noodles and they were good especially for how affordable the offerings were. We came across this one evening when we arrived late from out day and needed something quick and easy. If I had known I probably would have skipped the bento Boxes from the market in Ikspira and ate here another night as well. Keep in mind the food isn’t available until 8pm which can be late for some children.
Teppanyaki Restaurant Maihama
While this place is expensive their lunch buffet held only on select days is a really great value. If your schedule is open I would definitely recommend checking it out. We were not fortunately enough to dine here.
