Six Flags Season Pass is the best value of Any Amusement Park Annual Pass. We are lucky enough to live in an area where there are 4 Six Flags amusement parks within 3 hour drive from us. There is now 6 within a 6/7 hour drive. Six Flags Season Passes are a great value and here’s why.
The Cost of a Six Flags Season Pass is about the same as a Day Ticket to Most amusement parks
The cost of Six Flags season passes is very reasonable. We usually purchase them on Labor Day weekend for the next year for around $52 per person. We also add 2 dining plans for around $75 per person. Both season pass and dining pass includes upgrading to gold. This means we can use both passes and dining at all six flags. We also get free parking at all 6 flags. The total with fees is usually around $400 for the 4 passes and 2 dining plans.
Dining Plan is a great addition to your Six Flags Season Pass
Dining plans include 1 lunch entree and 1 dinner entree (can be adult entrees even if dining is on the kid’s passes) and a snack. As well as an unlimited refill bottle (with some plans) which gives us free drink refill all season long. This is enough food to keep us full while at the park every single visit. Plus the kids love being able to pick a different treat each trip.
Every year we get the passes in September for the following year and we rotate who’s passes get the dining. One year it’s the adults and the next its the kids. The passes and dining are good from the day you activate them, from September through December we all have dining passes. It’s nice to have the additional meals but its a constant reminder that 4 dining passes are way too much food for us.
For $400 You get 9 Months of Fun Meals and Parking
What does $400 for Six Flags Season Passes and 2 dining plans, get us? we usually visit Great Escape and Six Flags New England through out the summer. We usually visit Great Adventure once or twice a year and we have only visited Le Ronde and Baltimore once. New England opens in April and closes at the end of the Year. That’s 9 months of entertainment with meals included.
Having meals included means we aren’t paying for overpriced park food or spending time in the early morning trying to make lunches to bring. One year we visited the parks in total 25 times which averages to $16 per visit including lunch dinner a snack and drinks. even visiting once a month would be $44 total for a family of 4 for lunch and dinner and a snack (shared) and unlimited drinks amusement park and watermark admission and parking. For us, that is the minimum value and we always exceed it.
Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, NJ)
The reason to go to the Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey is the ride through safari.
Six Flags Safari is included with a Six Flags Season Pass
This in my opinion is better than the safari ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The animals especially giraffes can get very close. The stop at the camp adventure lets you see some animals up close including an anteater and there’s an opportunity to feed Giraffes for a fee. There’s also a zip-line you can do for an extra fee. The safari ride line gets very long so arrive early and expect it to take at least an hour of your time depending on how long you stop at the camp. Six Flags also offers an overnight camping event a few times a year. This is on our bucket list to do.
Tons of Roller Coasters
This may be the best six flags park for roller coasters. They have the second fastest coaster in the world (second only to one recently built in Dubai). There’s a handful of other coasters so its great for older kids. The park also a batman shooting ride that the kids love. it’s a great attraction when it’s very hot out. There’s a train ride near the safari that is my kid’s favorite. They have a Looney Toon Area where there are kids rides. There’s a stagecoach ride that isn’t very fast but the kids love it for some reason. This park also has the best Holiday In the Park. areas of the park are decorated with different themes and lights. You can take a Gondola over the park for really nice views.
You can also meet Santa. The water park is separate from the amusement park and requires separate admission if you do not have their specific season pass which includes it. If you are a season pass holder for another park it’s a $25 per person fee to use the water park. Because we spend so much time at the New England water park which is the best we passed on this water park.
Six Flags New England (Agawam, MA)
We love this park in Massachusetts for any reason but the biggest being the water park. It is so large that it never seems full. They have a wave pool and 3 lazy rivers. a traditional lazy river with tubes, a ranging river where you go without a tube, and a kiddie lazy river. There are also one of those kids splash structures with the buckets. They have 2 family raft slides which we love and 4 slides that are medium-sized great for younger kids ages 4-8 that aren’t ready for the big slides.
The park has a raging river-type ride which is a lot of fun and nearby is pandemonium which is a roller-coaster that also spins while moving. The lower height min on this means our kids could ride it by age 5. There are a couple other roller coasters the kids could ride at a young age as well and Toony town also has the kiddie roller-coaster common in most of their parks. They do Frightfest and Holiday in the Park during the season. Fightfest is a big scary after 5 pm when the awakening happens and the zombies come out but the kids have been brave and enjoy it. The Holiday in the Park is just ok here, even though it’s similar to NJ. Marsh-mellow roasting and visits with Santa and lights around the park but nothing like NJ.
Six Flags Great Escape (Lake George, NY)
This is the park I grew up visiting. It wasn’t built as a Six Flags and it makes it different. This park is great for little kids They have a bunch of playhouses in 2 different areas and even at ages 5 and 6.5 they still love to spend hours in them. They have a western town with a jail and they have a fairytale house area with jack and the beanstalk and a pumpkin. The Splashwater Kingdom is within the park and included with admission.
Its a smaller water park but has the splash bucket tower, wave pool, and lazy river as well as some slides and a pirate boat kids area. It gets very crowded in the summer here more so than New England (possibly because of its size). There are some roller coasters hear, the steamin deamin being the classic and Comet being the best. We usually come here off-season to enjoy low crowds and short trips.
Six Flags La Ronde (Montreal, Ca)
This is a small park that I wouldn’t go too far out of my way to visit but if in the area is worth a visit as it has some unique things. Ok, maybe I go for the poutine which is included with the dining plan. they have a giant wooden roller coaster and they have a ride with spraying boats and the riverboat ride is great. it’s a small park but since we have a family camp about 1.5 hours away we stop by when we can for a free activity and meal.
Six Flags Darien Lake (Darien Center, NY)
Six Flags just repurchased this park and it is included with season passes for the 2019 season. I haven’t been to this park in ages but when I went years ago it was a Six Flags and they had invested i n the park adding a really good roller coaster. I plan to visit the park this year and will update with more information.
Six Flags America (Baltimore, MD)
It’s really hard for me to recommend this park because there is so much to do in the DC area for free and this park is really small. It has some unique rides and it has a ballocity fort the kids enjoyed (though it smelled). It also had a huge playground the kids really enjoyed but I can’t imagine making a trip just for the playground.
Six Flags Season Pass can be used all over the USA
There are many more six flags across the US. As a kid, we visited the one in Chicago and several years ago we visited the one in San Antonio with the kids. if you have season passes its a nice free activity while traveling and if you have the dining plan it also means a free meal or 2. If you live in the northeast especially near Six Flags Great Adventure or New England I think season passes are a great value.
